Color wheel

The classic color wheel, alive: hue runs around the circle, saturation grows from the center outward, and a slider sets lightness. Click or drag to choose a color and watch the harmony rings — complementary, analogous, triadic and split-complementary — move with you on the wheel.

The wheel places hue around the circle and saturation as the distance from the center. The rings show where the harmony colors sit — click any chip to make it the selected color.

The harmony conventions used here

Harmonies are hue rotations on the wheel — a universal color-theory convention, not a formal standard. At your chosen hue H this tool uses:

Complementary — H + 180°. The opposite side of the wheel: maximum contrast, ideal for accents.

Analogous — H ± 30°. Neighboring hues: calm, cohesive schemes common in nature.

Triadic — H + 120° and H + 240°. Three evenly spaced hues: vibrant but balanced.

Split-complementary — H + 150° and H + 210°. The complement split in two: contrast with less tension.

Saturation and lightness are kept from your picked color, so the whole harmony shares the same mood. Check the readability of any pairing in the contrast checker.
