CSS color names

The complete, normative list of the 148 colors that CSS lets you write by name — from aliceblue to rebeccapurple, including the classic 16 HTML colors. Search by name or filter by family; click any swatch to copy its hex code. The values come straight from the W3C CSS Color 4 specification, so they always match what browsers render.

About this list

CSS has grown from the original 16 HTML colors to 148 named keywords. The count you often see quoted as "140 colors" is the classic X11-derived list without rebeccapurple and the other later additions — this table is the full, current set from the specification.

Two keywords, transparent and currentcolor, exist as well but are not colors in the table: they don't carry their own RGB value.

Want any of these colors in another notation? Drop the name into the color converter and get hex, RGB, HSL, HSV, OKLCH and CMYK at once.
